a core tenet of our restaurant is respect for nature. we believe chefs are messengers for nature and we are continuously seeking paths to uphold our responsibility to the environment.

it is a privilege to procure ingredients from our local farmers markets and work closely with a multitude of farmers and purveyors whose organic and regenerative practices align with ours. we serve meats that are raised ethically by responsible farmers and sustainable seafood that meets the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch green rating.

in addition, baroo donates 1% of all sales to Zero Foodprint, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring the climate by supporting regenerative farms and healthy soil initiatives.

we are a certified member of the California Green Business Network which recognizes small to medium-sized businesses that meet their conservation standards for energy, water and other resources.

our support of sustainable practices extends beyond the kitchen to our dining room. our lampshades are made from foraged seaweed by the pioneering, sustainable design firm Tŷ Syml. our water and most of our cocktail glasses are blown with 100% recycled glass by Oaxaca-based Xaquixe which promotes sustainable and ethical production. our napkins are made from deadstock and low-impact dyes by our arts district neighbor, SUAY, known for their textile recycling, reuse and repair initiatives.

we are continually working on being a restaurant that not only minimizes its environmental impact but also supports environmental efforts in our community and globally.
